Our orthodontist, Dr. Peggy Lovecchio can install braces in your child’s mouth to gradually correct misaligned teeth. This system includes brackets, wires, brands, spacers and other orthodontic components capable of applying tension to the ligaments that anchor your child’s teeth in place.

Your son or daughter will need to return to Love Family Dentistry every four to six weeks to have their braces adjusted. Each of these appointments will tighten their braces to move the ligaments. If some component of their braces is damaged or compromised, it could alter the tension and prolong the realignment process. If your child has a problem with a part of the hardware, it’s best to call Love Family Dentistry to determine the best course of action. Dr. Peggy Lovecchio can assess the severity of the damage to the braces and repair the necessary components.

Sometimes a spacer will feel loose or fall out shortly before a scheduled adjustment. This might simply be a sign that your teeth have moved into their new positions after the previous adjustment. In a situation like this Dr. Peggy Lovecchio will usually recommend scheduling an adjustment to install a new spacer and tighten their braces.

If you are in the Roanoke, Virginia, area and your child needs braces, you should call 540-904-2300 to have it addressed at Love Family Dentistry.
