You know that a toothbrush is an integral part of your dental hygiene routine, but there are many facts about the toothbrush that you are probably not aware of. Read on to learn some fun facts!
Where was the first mass-produced toothbrush invented?
The first mass-produce toothbrush was invented in a prison. William Addis was jailed in 1770. He saved a bone from dinner and received bristles from a guard. Addis made tiny holes in the bone, inserted the bristles and sealed them with glue. He used this to brush his teeth. When Addis was released from prison, he modified his prototype and started a company to manufacture his toothbrush.
Is it better to brush or floss first?
The order doesn’t matter as long as you brush and floss every day.
How should a toothbrush be cleaned and stored?
Remove toothpaste and debris by rinsing your toothbrush in tap water. Then store your toothbrush in an upright position where it can air dry. Only store a toothbrush in a closed container when you must, as a closed container is more conducive to the growth of bacteria.
How long should each tooth brushing session last?
Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time. If you have a hard time brushing for the allotted time, try setting a timer.
